1. What's a Palm?
A Palm is a small hand held computer that allows you to not only use ChartMatePro but you can also use it to store names and addresses of other people, send and receive email, play games, read and write Microsoft Word and Excel documents plus more. To find out more about Palm's range of hand held computers visit www.palmone.com
2. How hard is it to "chart" a match using ChartMate Pro?
One thing that we discovered while trialling ChartMate PRO on the ATP Tour is that many of the coaches are computer phobic. Some of the very well known coaches were actually terrified of computers and stories about needing someone else to print your email out so you could read, dictate and then have someone else type the response, were not uncommon. The most reluctant coaches said it took 1 or 2 video taped matches to get the feel of the programme before charting live matches. Those who were a little more comfortable were charting effectively after about 2 sets. In general we found that coaches were delighted at how easy the system was to use and was countless times more efficient that using pen and paper.
3. Do I have to record every stroke?
No. To effectively record a players' pattern of play, you need to identify how the point was started (where was the ball served) and how was the point concluded (where was the winning shot hit/error made and by whom).
4. I forgot to recharge my batteries on the Palm and all my match data has been lost. What do I do?
Assuming you HotSynced your Palm with your PC after the last lot of charting, simply recharge your Palm and HotSync it to you PC once again. The Hotsync programme will restore that information that was on the Palm (including your ChartMate PRO matches) at the time of your last Hotsync.
5. I want to print out the information from ChartMate PRO. How do I do this?
You will need to purchase another software programme that runs on your PC called ChartPC. This is available directly from Prowess Sports.

Crucial Factors

ChartMate PRO has a lot of flexibility built into it. We included a function called "crucial factors" which allows a user to set their own variables to be charted. When Sven Groenveld was working with Greg Rusedski, he used ChartMatePro to chart the service return location of Pete Sampras. Sven wanted to know when Sampras returned the ball so he could advise Greg of where he would play his first volley. The rest is history, Greg defeated Sampras in the Paris Indoor final in 1998 in straight sets by "knowing" the part of the court to which Sampras preferred to hit his return of serve. Greg was there waiting for the volley.
